- Emergency Overview ***: Harmful by inhalation, in contact with skin, an d if swallowed. Translucent liquid with slight ammonia odor. Contact with eyes or skin causes irritation. Effects Of Overexpo sure - Eye Contact: Direct eye contact may cause irritation. Exposure to liquid, aerosol, or vapors may cause irritation, tearing, redness, and swe lling accompanied by a stinging sensation. Effects Of Overexposure - Skin Contact: Direct skin contact may cause irrita tion. Symptoms may include swelling, redness, and rash. Prolonged and repeated skin contact may cause dermatitis, drying, and defatting due to the solvent properties. Effects Of Overexposure - Inhalation: Inhalation may cause headaches, difficult breathing, and loss of consciousness. Inhalation may cause irritation to the re spiratory tract (nose, mouth, mucous membranes) & acute nervous system depression characterized by the follow ing progressive steps: headache, dizz iness, staggering gait, confusion, unconsciousness, or coma. Effects Of Overexpo sure - Ingestion: May result in possible corrosive action in the mouth, stomach tissue and digestive tract. Vomiting may cause aspiration of the solvent, resulting in chemical pneumonitis. Ingestion may cause gastrointestinal irritation, abdominal pain, na usea, vomiting and diarrhea. Effects Of Overexposure - Chronic Hazards: Prolonged contact will cause drying and cracking of the skin, due to defatting action. Skin sensitization, asthma or other allergic responses may develop
Precautionary Statements
- First Aid - Eye Contact: Hold eyelids open to rinse out the entire eye. If material gets into eyes, flush with water immediately for 15 minute s. Consult a physician. First Aid - Skin Contact: In case of contact, immediately flush skin with plenty of water and wash affected areas thoroughly with soap and water. Remo ve contaminated clothing and shoes. First Aid - Inhalation: In the case of inhalation of aeroso l/mist consult a physicia n, if necessary. Move to fresh air in case of accidental inhalation of vapors . Asthmatic type symptoms may develop and ma ybe immediate or delayed by several hours. First Aid - Ingestion: Do not induce vomiting. Do not give anything to an unconsci ous person.
